Light Therapy

What is Botox Treatment? Learn With IICAN.

Our skin is designed to absorb light in various ways. Vitamin D can be naturally produced by the skin under the presence of sunlight only. A wide range of light and colour therapy techniques depending on the light shone on the skin is available today, like:

Photofacial (Photorejuvenation)

Photofacial or photo rejuvenation is a skin treatment using light for problems like wrinkles and spots. It is useful in fighting photo-ageing problems and sun damage like fine lines, solar lentigos, or melasma.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy uses light frequencies to reduce skin issues like sunspots, fine lines, broken capillaries or hair removal. Such types of therapy sessions are performed by an experienced cosmetologist and generally require a patient commitment of 5 to 6 treatments.

Each session aims at a deeper layer of pores and skin, with visible improvements in the upcoming weeks. The treatment benefits can take up to 6 months to get noticed.

Conventional Medical Use

Therapies using blue and red light are also mentioned as highly beneficial in conservative medicine. In many countries, hospitals treat jaundice, acne bacteria, etc. using blue and red light therapy. Similarly, these lights can also be used as a pain reliever and wound healer.

Photodynamic Therapy (PDT)

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a treatment using a light-sensitive drug, which can get triggered by the laser light to eliminate cells within the body. This is generally used to treat cancer cells. The manner entails the use of a unique drug generally by using injection. Cancer cells absorb this medication. 1 to 3 days later, a physician targets the affected area using a laser. In the case of surface tumours like skin cancer, LED may be preferred over laser.

Colorpuncture

It is a healing method developed by a German scientist and naturopath Peter Mendel after intensive research of more than 25 years. In this process, we use lights on the acupuncture points of our skin. This can be a great help to get benefit by the healing properties of the colours. It is the same as acupuncture but with lights.

Spectra-Chrome Therapy

Darius P. Ghadiali (1873-1966) known as Dinshaw invented the spectra-chrome. He initially used an indigo coloured filter on a kerosene lantern to treat a girl dying of colitis. According to this theory, every element of the universe is related to the colours of the prism. If a person is healthy, his colours would be balanced, but get unbalanced if he falls ill. Spectra-chrome replaces the lacking colours and reduces the overΒ abundant ones, to balance them.
